Configuring time tracking
This is a JIRA Administrator guide to enable Time Tracking and configure the necessary fields. Please note, these settings and configurations are only available to JIRA administrator or users with administrator privileges and required to be enabled. Jira's time tracking feature enables users to record the time they spend working on issues.
Note: Capacity Tracker uses the default Jira time tracking features. Also note that only Jira’s 'Remaining Estimate' time tracking field is used by Capacity Tracker to calculate the amount of remaining work for the users, we do not use the Original Estimate field.
Please note that we do not support any other custom time tracking fields.
Many companies use the time tracking fields actively to estimate original work and track remaining hours. If you can see “Original estimates”, “Remaining estimates” fields in your JIRA stories/bugs/sub-tasks, then it indicates that the settings are already setup properly. If these JIRA settings have not been configured, then please use following guidelines.
Enable time tracking feature from the administration panel.
Add time tracking fields to the JIRA project screens and templates.
Ensure time tracking fields are visible to the users on UI.
