Functional Brief
The Multiproject report help summarizes the capacity tracking information of multiple jira projects. This type of report is commonly used in organizations that manage a variety of projects simultaneously, plan concurrently, share resources across projects and maintain a collective view of progress. The report provides a snapshot of the organization's overall project portfolio and sprint capacity planning across these projects. It can be used to identify areas where resources may need to be shifted or priorities adjusted. it can help ensure that resources are allocated effectively across projects.
Use cases:
I want to view all the ongoing project iterations at one single place.
I want to view the work allocation of shared resources across multiple project sprints.
I want to view an aggregated capacity per role across all ongoing project iterations.
I want to view the capacity planning of multiple projects on monthly/quarterly horizon.
How Multi Project Works?
The Multiproject report takes the inputs from the selected project boards, iterations and its capacity planning data. It pulls the capacity tracker configurations, team bandwidth and work allocation from the project level capacity tracking and aggregates the portfolio for you.
Pre-requisite: All the projects must have iterations with the work, estimation, and allocation setup. Also all the projects must have capacity tracker configured.
Step by Step Guide
Create New Report
1. Navigate to the “Apps” menu and select the “Capacity Tracker – MultiProject” option.
2. Click on “New Report”.
3. Enter a Report Name. Click on the “Add a project” drop box to select or search the project you would like to add to the report.
4. Once you add a project, select a board from the list of boards. Please make sure you select the board in use with active iterations and capacity tracking configurations, otherwise the report will not be able to pull and show accurate data. Also, select the toggle bar “Track All Iterations vs. Track Active Iterations”. We recommend you start with Active iterations that are currently ongoing, you can always update the report settings later.
5. Click on “Save” after you finish adding all the projects that you would like to be included in the report.
View Report
1. Once the report is saved, you will be redirected to the Multiproject report listing page.
2. Click on “Open” and your Multiproject report is ready!
3. There are several ways you can aggregate and view the Multiproject report. You can click on the drop down and you will find three options.
a. Track per Iteration (default)
b. Track per Member
c. Track per Role
4. Understanding Track by Iteration – This is the default view. It will list iterations from the included project boards, list of members, their work capacity and work allocation for the iteration. For a given iteration, it is the same information that you will find in the Capacity Tracker for that project. Refer the example below.

5. Understanding Track per Member – This view aggregate and group by the capacity and work allocation by Member across project iterations. It helps understand what is the work allocated to an individual across multiple assignments.
6. Understanding Track per Role – This view lists the iterations from all included project boards but group by the capacity and work allocation to the role level. It is a little bit of higher-level view than looking at individual members’ capacity and work allocation across the projects. If configured and used properly, it allows you to measure the work allocation across skill or functional areas that are defined as Roles.
7. Lastly, if you navigate to the report listing page, you will find “Edit” and “Delete” report functionality.
