Please note that we do not support any other custom time tracking fields.

Many companies use the time tracking fields actively to estimate original work and track remaining hours. If you can see “Original estimates”, “Remaining estimates” fields in your JIRA stories/bugs/sub-tasks, then it indicates that the settings are already setup properly. If these JIRA settings have not been configured, then please use following guidelines.

  1. Enable time tracking feature from the administration panel.

  2. Add time tracking fields to the JIRA project screens and templates.

  3. Ensure time tracking fields are visible to the users on UI.

To track their time, you must grant users the Work On Issues permission in their project. To verify your project permissions for time tracking:

Steps: JIRA Dashboard→ Dashboard > Click on “Settings”→ “Settings” > Click on “Issues”→ “Issues” > Click on “Screens”→ “Screens” > Select your project screen schemes and default scheme→ scheme > Click on “Configure”→ “Configure” > Go to lists “Field Tab”→ Tab” > Add “Time tracking” from the drop-down menu.

Enable display of time tracking fields within tasks/sub-tasks

Steps: Go to Projects > Open any sub-task > Click “Edit” > Select “Configure fields” > Select “Time Tracking”. Users can see and use original time tracking fields (estimates, remaining estimates) in the project.
